Brett Hlavacek (Wat) will meet Tarek Rached (Sitan NY) in full rules muay thai on December 13th at Take On XXIV.
Brett Hlavacek (Wat)
Hlavacek sports a traditional Thai style – feels out his opponents in the first round and attacks identified weaknesses. Hlavacek will have a reach advantage on Rached, so look for Brett to use head kicks and clinch-work to control the range of the fight. Check out Hlavacek’s fight against Chris Clodfelter, where he uses his reach wisely and stops Clodfelter with a right high kick.
Recent Fight History: Chris Clodfelter (W), Ryan Parker (W), Francois “Bang Bang” Ambang (L), Strahinja Ivanovic (W), Eric “The Hooligan” Utsch (W), Marcus Fisher (W)
Tarek Rached (Sitan NY)
Rached likes to take the center of the ring and throw heavy hands and leg kicks to stop his opponents. Look for Rached to try and cut off the ring and force Hlavacek to exchange with Rached in the pocket. Rached will have to deal with his Hlavacek’s head-kicks on the outside and Hlavacek’s strong clinch-work on the inside – he will need to make his punches count as he steps into the red zone. Check out Rached stop Paris Wyatt in the fight below.
The fighters do share a common opponent: Eric Utsch. Utsch stopped Rached in round 1 at Combat at the Capital (Road to Glory) with a left hook-right straight combination. At this same event, Hlavacek beat Utsch by judges’ decision. Whether the results at the Road To Glory tournament foreshadows the results at Take On remains to be seen. From watching tape on both fighters, the fight will be won based on Rached’s boxing against Hlavacek’s kicks and clinch-work.
