NEVER Quit, Never Stop

WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH…

Have you ever thought about giving up?

Most of us have thought about giving up, whether it’s giving up a dream or giving up in the middle of a workout. It’s tempting. It’s easy to give up, to put a stop to the struggle, the chase. It’s easy to give in to temptation, to laziness, to weakness.

But, of course, when you do give up, you regret it. Even if you do something as simple as cheating on your diet, you feel the guilt afterward.

So how do you keep yourself from giving in? Let’s see what Namsaknoi from Evolve MMA did:

MARTIAL ARTS IS MY LIFE: NAMSAKNOI YUDTHAGARNGAMTORN

DISCIPLINE & TOUGHNESS

When Namsaknoi wanted to give up, he thought about his family. Where would he leave them if he stopped? He needed to succeed for his family. Now, you don’t necessarily need to think about your family, but you need to think about something that brings meaning to your life.

Viktor Frankl, a holocaust survivor, was able to survive four different concentration camps because he yearned to return to his wife and to give a lecture on the lessons he learned from the concentration camps. These two thoughts kept him alive.

When times get tough, when you think about quitting, you need to remember the dreams you have. You need to remember what you set out to accomplish. If that’s not enough, then you need to remember this: “Discipline equals freedom.” This is a simple reminder from Navy SEAL Jocko Willink.

To get what you want, you need discipline. Want to enjoy good health? You need to be disciplined in your diet and your exercise routine. Want to enjoy wealth? You need to be disciplined in your finances and in your workplace.

Discipline is what allows you to do what you don’t want to do but know you ought to do. Let that push you through a workout or push you towards your dreams.
