Analysis of Chai’s Elbow KO
Petsongpark catches Chai’s leg, thinking he has him trapped. This is not the case.
Petsongpark drops Chai’s leg to deliver a knee, but this would be the beginning of the end. Petsongpark uses his leg as an obstacle between himself and Chai. However, Chai uses a strong forward lean and pressure to ensure that Petsongpark cannot lean or move back.
If Petsongpark leans back while Chai is leaning forward, Petsongpark gets pushed off balance. Furthermore, Chai cleverly blasts Petsongpark with right hooks, eliminating the left as a possible escape route.
Chai successfully pushes Petsongpark’s bodyweight onto his right side, making it even more difficult for him to escape. Then Chai even throws a light left kick simply as a way to block the left escape route once more. Chai closes one door for his opponent and opens another for himself by delivering a brutal left elbow to finish the fight.

MUAY THAI FIGHT BREAKDOWN: Ferocious Up Elbow KO! | Evolve University
Whenever you find yourself in a bad situation, the clinch can be your savior. Many fighters in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai or even MMA will often clinch up in order to regroup themselves. This can be difficult to do if your clinch is not up to par. “Out of the frying pan and into the fire,” as they say.
This is where the importance of defense comes in. The better you can defend yourself, the more likely your reset will be a good one.
